Amiga: The Amiga Explosion

Wow, it’s been quite a week here at the lab. There has been a giant explosion of Amiga. Thanks to a couple good friends of mine, I managed to come home with an Amiga 1000, 1200, and a 3000!

Just when you think that no more awesome classic machines are nowhere to be found (at least when you cruise the thrifts).

The sad part is everything is already in parts! I found that the 3000 had a GVP¬†EGS 24 Spectrum display card in it (yeay!). That went straight into the 4000. It hasn’t been easy though, I’m having to start over software wise on the 4000 again as I had messed up workbench pretty bad. I will probably be updating my software list here soon with new (new to me) software that I am using on it.

I haven’t had a chance to even boot up the 1k, 1200, or the 3k yet. I do know however that the 3k was upgraded at some point with a Commodore A3640, which is out of a 4000, bringing the machine up to a 68040 @ 25mhz. Pretty sweet for a 3000! I am going to use the Amber card that I had in the 4k in that. The 1000 is bone stock, but there is a 1mb expansion unit on the side, as well as the 256k memory expansion up front.

Of course with all Amiga collections, comes the 500+ floppies I now have!

Big thanks to the 2 friends I’m lucky to have here in the desert!
